Following on from our work in schools across Edinburgh, we are proud to be developing a Good Food Apprenticeship to give school leavers the confidence, skills, understanding and opportunities to follow a career in food.
We are experienced, passionate and active members of Scotland’s hospitality industry and we have created this programme to put seasonal, local food at the forefront of our education.
Not only will you learn about food growing, sustainable meat, dairy and fish production but will also gain a deep understanding of the food system as a whole.
In terms of practical cookery skills, apprentices will learn about how to prepare and cook fish, meat and vegetables as well as learning how to make bread, pastry and various puddings and desserts.
In order to prepare for work, we will put you through the necessary food hygiene training, learn about the skills needed to write and cost great menus and understand how a kitchen operates.
You will get hands-on experience cooking for members of the public through our various activities including community meals, dinners and events.
