This National Food Bank Day, help empower children through food education. Support Edinburgh Food Social to teach children essential cooking skills and ensure that young people experiencing food poverty have access to healthy and nutritious local food.

Providing opportunities for young people to develop essential cookery skills has always been core to our mission at Edinburgh Food Social. Our community food projects give local young people the opportunity to develop cooking skills that sets them up to build healthy habits and nurture stronger, more resilient communities across Craigmillar, Niddrie, and beyond.

Since our move to Craigmillar, we have been working with many fantastic local organisations including Castlebrae Community Campus, The Greenhouse Pantry, The Venchie Children’s Project, Niddrie Mission and many more to do this.

Our original Food Truck in Schools project became so vital and valued within the local community that from 2022 we expanded our youth food projects and launched the Good Food Youth Club.  This began at the Venchie to ensure that local children were well fed during the summer holidays, and has become a regular project that we run at many different community centres throughout the summer, Easter and October holidays each year.

Your help can support us on our mission to make sure that young people in Edinburgh have access to nourishing food and are equipped with the skills they need to lead healthy, happy lives.

There are two crucial ways to show your support:

  1. Take action to tackle youth food poverty in Edinburgh and donate now

  2. Pass on this message and help create the next generation of inspired, excited and informed eaters

Thank you to all of our supporters who help us do this essential work. Read more about the impact the Good Food Youth Club has on young people in Craigmillar in the following posts:
